Day 1

Upon your arrival at Bujumbura international airport, you will meet our driver guide to welcome and brief you about your daily activities, after which he will transfer you to your hotel. If you come in the morning, there will be an option to proceed with the Bujumbura city tour.

After your breakfast, you will drive about 10 minutes northwest of Bujumbura city to reach Rusizi National. The park is crisscrossed by the Rusizi River which stands as a great habitat for a great number of birds and hippopotamuses and is not too far from the DR Congo border, which makes it the most spectacular natural area worth visiting. During your game, you will expect to see Monkeys, Antelopes, crocodiles, and numerous bird species endemic to the region among others.
Later after your lunch, you will visit the Livingstone –Stanley Monument and learn a little bit about the history and culture of Burundi and get to know how Stanley met on 25th Nov 1871 David Livingstone, the pioneer Christian missionary who explored Africa in the pursuit of the Nile.
Later you will get returned to your hotel for the rest of the day

Day 3

After your breakfast, you will drive about 2 hours passing through a variety of amazing landscapes and beaches to get to Rumonge. It is the fourth largest city in Burundi found along Lake Tanganyika shores in the southern part of Burundi. Reaching Rumonge, you get amazed by the huge palm oil plantation that covers the area. We will just experience how this palm oil is processed from the farm up to the final product.
After your lunch, later in the afternoon we will proceed with the Rumonge city tour and learn how the city had been a tactic area by Belgians during colonial time. We will just visit some buildings that evoke the presence of whites in the city.

After your breakfast, we will approach Tanganyika Lake to witness and experience how Mukeke and Ndagara are made from their freshness up to their dryness. The Mukeke and Ndagara are the most preferred food in Burundi, you just taste them and be a part of their preparation.

Day 5

After your breakfast, you will leave Rumonge and drive some minutes towards Bururi and get lost in the forest nature reserve considered as the link between heaven and earth thanks to its importance associated with religion and socio-cultural events, the forest inhabits many animals and plant species. On your way to the chimpanzee trek, you may have a chance to see some rare and endemic bird species in the Albertine rift valley region such as Apalis argentea and Kivu ground thrush, and Ross’s Turaco among others, and Red-tailed monkeys.

Day 6

Transfer to Rutana, Karera waterfalls and German faults (96km)

Transfer to Rutana, Karera waterfalls and German faults (96km)

After your breakfast, you will get in your safari car and start driving toward Rutana. It is around a 2-hour car drive. You will get to Rutana around 9 and start experiencing the Karera waterfalls which are divided into 4 waterfalls. The waters from the waterfalls have healing powers that serve as medication. That’s why you will find local and international visitors coming in, stepping in the water to seek divine healing from the water. The site is surrounded by breathtaking scenery that attracts the attention of everyone.
Later, after your lunch, you will visit the Nyakazu fault also known as the German fault. The place is historical but also natural. It evokes the resistance of King Mwambutsa’s soldiers toward German soldiers. You will learn how the German soldiers had been defeated during the war.
After this, you will get transferred to Gitega and stay at Helena Hotel

After your breakfast, you will visit the Gitega National museum to witness the Burundian culture. After which, you will visit the Gishora drum sanctuary and be welcomed by royal drummers. You will be astonished by their rapidity in jumping in the air and how talented they are. You will just learn and imitate how to beat drums and dance. After your lunch in Gitega, you will get transferred to Bujumbura International Airport.
