Day 1

Transfer from Entebbe to Kisoro

Your 7 Days Mgahinga Gorillas, Golden monkey and Lake Mburo safari begins with the Bujuku Eco Tours driver guide meeting you at your hotel in Entebbe/Kampala or Entebbe Airport for briefing to begin your transfer via the Equator to Kisoro town in the cool south western part of Uganda for an overnight as you prepare for the activities in Mgahinga National park. Arrive late in the afternoon for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2

Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

Your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point inside the park to learn about how to behave and interact with the gorillas in the wild. Upon arriving at the park reception, register and get briefed about the park rules and guidelines, nature of the trek and behavior of gorillas as well as your personal conduct and safety measures. Later start off your gorilla trekking experience, where you will be assigned armed rangers to escort you.

Depending on the location of the gorillas, you might need to drive before you start the trek in the park. The ranger guide will then lead you to start your gorilla trek in the park. After hiking some distance depending on the location of the gorillas, which might take you an hour or less, you will sight them and spend up to 1 hour maximum while with them, taking beautiful photos, to have a record of the enormous creatures before you start your descent back to the lodge.

Day 3

Golden Monkey trekking

Golden Monkey trekking

After an early morning breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the briefing point where the interesting golden monkey trekking starts. Just like the previous day, you receive a briefing from the ranger guide and later start your hike up Mgahinga national park in search of the golden monkeys, which are only in the Virunga Volcanoes.

Generally golden monkeys are swift in their movements unlike the gorillas and you will follow them as they move to feed. They love bamboo shoots compared to any other vegetation for feeding. The first part of the hike is through the secondary forest and shrubs but as you go deeper into the forest you will get in the bamboo sections where you will start hearing sounds and see movements of these amazing creatures. You are allowed 1 hour with the golden monkeys before you start your decent back to the starting point.

Drive back to the lodge for Lunch, checkout and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale for about 1-2 hours.

Day 4

After your morning breakfast, Have a morning canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi to explore a few islands including the punishment island. Embark on the journey to Lake Mburo National park, found in western Uganda, where you can come across numerous wildlife. The Park is a renown destination for nature walk safaris to experience Burchell zebras, Impalas, Rothschild Giraffes, crocodiles with about 310 bird species. The park being Uganda's nearest and simplest park, can be explored fully to appreciate its beauty and wildlife.

The journey to Lake Mburo national park from Lake Bunyonyi will take 4-5 hours depending on the weather and traffic.
Upon arriving at your lodge, you can go for an evening game drive to explore the park's beauty as well as enjoying sunset.

Day 5

Game drive in Lake Mburo National Park and Boat Cruise

After your early morning breakfast, you will go for a morning bush walk to have a closer encounter with nature. Then continue with a mid-morning game drive safari for more exclusive wildlife viewing and photography. This park is one of the special national parks where every place is alive with variety, interesting and colourful features. It has extensive wetland area that harbors the majority of wildlife.

During your game drive, your likely to encounter or see elands, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, and zebras. Thereafter, have your lunch. Continue to have an afternoon boat cruise to see hippos and amazing countless bird species, including the rare shoebill, grey crowned crane, pelicans, fish eagles, herons, and other water birds.

Return to your lodge for an overnight stay. Or arrange for night game drive.

After your early heavy morning breakfast, you can embark on a transfer to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Kampala is Uganda's national and commercial capital bordering Lake Victoria, Africa's largest fresh lake shared by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Upon arriving at your hotel, relax and prepare to have an evening city walk to explore the bustling city, known as the heart of Uganda's social, economic and political life, full of vibrant culture, a mix of traditional and modern influences.

After your busy evening walk or city tour, return to your lodge for an overnight stay or prepare for an airport transfer to Entebbe international airport.
