Day 1

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

On arrival, our representative and your driver-guide will meet you. Receive our souvenir safari hat which is not only a gift from us but also the best way to start your adventurous safari. After loading your luggage onto the vehicle, you head to Samburu National Reserve with a stop at the equator crossing line.

You arrive in Samburu in time for check-in and lunch. Thereafter, enjoy your first afternoon game drive in this unique reserve. The game reserve is renowned for its rare species of animals unique to the park, namely the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and the beisa oryx. The elusive Kenyan leopard is often known to visit the park, especially in the evenings.

Other Kenyan wildlife in the park includes cheetahs and lions, as well as elephants, buffalos, and hippos. The birdlife is as plentiful as the wildlife in Samburu. The reserve boasts over 350 species of birds including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, and bateleurs.

Day 2

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve

Have another full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives in the park. The sharp contrast of colours is the most remarkable feature of the Samburu Shaba and Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Enjoy the hazy blue of the surrounding hills and infinite sky, the chocolate brown of the Uaso Nyiro River, and the dusty soils interspaced with the vivid greens of semi-desert vegetation. See the prehistoric-looking doum palm (the only palm tree which has branches) scattered amongst the granite boulders and ancient black lava flows found in the Shaba Reserve.

The region's animal life also pays tribute to the artist's palette with the curious blue-legged Somali ostriches, chestnut-coloured reticulated giraffes, black and white Grevy's zebras, gerenuks, and gazelles. The grey-green Nile crocodiles inhabit the Uaso Nyiro River which flows through Shaba and Samburu. Samburu is often considered the country's best leopard-viewing area and ideal for the sighting of lion prides.

Later, check out of the reserve and head to Ol Pejeta Conservancy (OPC). You will have a stop along the way to stretch and visit the washroom. Arrive at Sweetwaters Serena for lunch and enjoy a relaxed time before your afternoon game drive.

At 16h00, after enjoying your afternoon Kenyan tea and coffee, head out for an exciting game-viewing adventure. A safari into the OPC will let you enjoy the company of rescued chimpanzees as you learn about the stories of torture they went through in captivity in West and Central Africa. This is actually the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees on a game drive. You can also visit the largest black rhino sanctuary and learn about the conservation effort that is conducted to protect these endangered species. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you set out on an exciting road trip to the Masai Mara with short stops along the way to visit washrooms and stretch your legs. Arrive at 13h00 in the Mara with check-in at your camp, followed by lunch and a short time to relax before embarking on an afternoon game drive.

At 16h00, after enjoying your afternoon Kenyan tea and coffee, head out for an exciting game-viewing adventure. Search some of the area's wildlife hot spots determined by your driver guide as they've learned and understand the game's daily routines through tracking. Some wildlife is more difficult than others to spot, for instance, the leopard. These spotted cats blend almost seamlessly into the tall grass and shrubbery and are even more challenging to spot up in their favorite hangout, the trees. Your guide will take you to nearby watering holes, where on a hot day, you might spot many bird and wildlife species, including the elusive cats.

Day 6

Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara National Reserve

Have a sunrise game drive after breakfast and leave with picnic lunch boxes for a full-day exploration of the wilderness. Dream of Africa and chances are that you dream of the Masai Mara. This huge expanse of gently rolling grassland specked with flat-topped acacia trees and trampled by massive herds of zebra and wildebeest, is the ultimate African cliche. For once, the reality lives up to the image. The Masai Mara, which comprises not just the famous reserve but also around a dozen community conservancies, several group ranches, and numerous Masai villages, is for many people not just the highlight of their Kenyan adventure, but the very reason they came. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
