Day 1

Spectacular Safari in Tarangire National Park

Spectacular Safari in Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at 8 am, your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel and start your adventure to Tarangire. Should your flight arrive in the morning, we will pick you up from the airport and can start the safari right away.

Tarangire National Park is huge. As you stand at the park gate and look south, it stretches as far as the eye can see. Known as the "elephant playground", this phenomenal park contains huge herds of these mighty mammals. Tarangire is also home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. What might you see today? Perhaps a solitary male lion stretched out beneath a tree, or perhaps a trio of male cheetah enjoying some lazy bonding time in the sun. For Tarangire specialties, look out for kudu and oryx. The park is also famous for its splendid baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia woodland.

After a game drive in the late afternoon, we leave the park and drive to the comfort of our luxury lodge for dinner and overnight.

Your day will begin after breakfast at 8:00 am when we head towards Lake Natron. Located about a 3.5-hour drive away from Mto Wa Mbu and Manyara, Lake Natron is a surreal destination and a unique natural spectacle. Its waters are highly alkaline and are unusually shallow, averaging just 1 meter in depth.

After checking into your lodge and a short break, put your walking shoes on as a member of the Maasai community takes you on a walk around the shores of Lake Natron on the lookout for birds, especially the lesser flamingos. Lake Natron is the most important and regular breeding site for lesser flamingos in East Africa, hosting up to 2 million during the breeding season. The majority of egg-laying and hatching takes place from September to January.

After the hike, you will head back to your lodge for a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Full Day in Serengeti Searching for the Big 5

Waking up in the Serengeti is something really special. Sights, sounds and smells of Africa are all around, and ahead is a full day of adventure in the world’s most famous national park. After breakfast, we start with the morning section of our game drive in Serengeti National Park, marveling at the stunning scenery, ever-changing light and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by your expert driver-guide.

After our picnic lunch, we set off again, searching for wildlife in this awe-inspiring park. Serengeti’s wonders evolve subtly as the day progresses. The myriad animals and birds are the stars of the show and nature’s drama can unfold at any time. Of course, the animals don’t work to any schedule, so we may find lion or leopard, elephant and zebra, cheetah and antelope at any time on our drives. At the end of the afternoon, we return to the comfort of our tented camp for dinner and some much-needed rest.

Final Day in the Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater Rim

Today, we will leave the Serengeti plains. We will first have another morning game drive in the amazing Central Serengeti, marveling at its animals. We have another day of adventure, another day to enjoy the wildlife.

The Seronera River enjoys year-round water flow, so there is always something of interest to observe. Several game drives can be undertaken here and might reveal lions in sizeable prides, hippos or herds of elephants whose populations in the park have risen in recent times. We can also visit the Serengeti Visitor Centre where there is an excellent explanation of the park’s ecosystem and a chance to understand the history of conservation in this area.

After lunch, we head southeast toward Ngorongoro and to the comfort of our accommodation for dinner and overnight. We'll prepare for another true spectacle on the following day.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater

From our accommodation, we set off at 7:30 am after breakfast and descend the vast crater for a 7-hour game drive. On one side there’s the Lerai Forest, a classic mountain forest landscape with almost tropical characteristics. This is good elephant country, so keep your eyes peeled. By the side of the nearby swampland, you'll find what is sometimes called the "elephant graveyard". The mighty male tuskers come here to chew on the soft, swampland grasses once their teeth have failed them at the end of their lives. Buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle and eland are also present in numbers. Hippos can be found in pools and swampland and the highland birdlife is colorful and plentiful around the waters. Flamingos can often be seen in Lake Magadi, which occupies part of the crater floor.

In the late afternoon at around 3 pm, we ascend the crater and drive to the comfort of our lodge for dinner and some much-needed rest.

After lunch, we depart for Arusha to your hotel for rest after an incredible safari or drive you to the airport if you have a scheduled flight. We have the option to pass by shopping areas to buy gifts.

Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park). It is located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including Lake Manyara's unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.
