Have a cup of African coffee and start your game drive. Your guide will help you spot elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, and hyena. You will return for lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream on the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls, stopping just 10m from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. Marvel at the toothsome hippos and crocodiles. Over this 17km stretch, you may see elephant, waterbuck, Uganda kob, and crocodile. This is also a zone for many bird species like the Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant, and the rare shoebill stork.
You will leave the boat and start your (quite heavy) hike to the top of the fall (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver-guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to Nile Safari Lodge.

After an early breakfast, head out for lion tracking which involves following an individual or group of lions in order to learn more about their behavior, feeding habits, and social group dynamics. To take part in the lion-tracking experience, one needs to book in advance because there is a limit to the number of people who may participate in the activity. Lion tracking has
3 sessions per day but we will participate in the early-morning session which takes between 2 to 3 hours. The chief tracker or researcher will brief you about the activity and what to expect before you get into the vehicles to look for the lions. Later, you will continue searching for the tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Overnight will be at Ishasha Wilderness Camp.
