Pick Up at Hotel or Airport in Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

Your safari begins with an 5:00 AM pick-up from your hotel, ferry terminal, or Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. You'll enjoy a scenic 4–5 hour drive through rural Tanzania toward Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), with opportunities to admire the landscapes and local villages along the way.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp, then refresh and get ready for your first adventure.

At 4:00 PM, embark on a sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River a highlight of any southern Tanzania safari. Glide past pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and riverbank elephants while colorful kingfishers, fish eagles, and bee-eaters soar overhead.

As the sun dips below the horizon, stop for a sundowner on a sandbank, soaking in the golden light and tranquility of the African wilderness.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight at Selous River View Lodge (or similar).
