Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your experienced safari guide will pick you up at Entebbe International Airport (for early-morning arrivals) or at your hotel or guesthouse in Entebbe or Kampala (for travelers who arrived the previous day). After a short briefing, begin your scenic 8–9-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

The drive offers a wonderful introduction to Uganda’s countryside, passing through bustling towns, vibrant local markets, and rolling hills that gradually give way to the dramatic highlands of the Kigezi region. Along the way, you’ll stop at the Equator line for photography and a fun water experiment, before continuing to Mbarara for a delicious lunch featuring local Ugandan cuisine.

In the evening, arrive at your lodge near Bwindi, nestled on the edge of the forest. Settle in, relax, and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla experience that awaits you the next day.

Gorilla Habituation

After an early breakfast, check out and drive to the park headquarters for registration and a short briefing. Here, Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and researchers will explain the gorilla habituation process, safety guidelines, and what to expect on this rare adventure.

You’ll then set off into Bwindi’s thick rainforest with a team of rangers, trackers, and researchers who spend their days studying and gradually introducing gorillas to human presence. The trek can last anywhere from half an hour to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the rich sounds and sights of the forest—birds calling, monkeys leaping through the canopy, and the cool, earthy scent of the jungle.

Once you find the gorilla family, you’ll spend up to four unforgettable hours in their company. Watch them feed, play, and interact as researchers explain their behavior and progress. It’s a powerful experience that connects you deeply to nature and conservation.
