Fly from Zanzibar & Day and Night Game Drives

After an early hotel pick-up in Zanzibar, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nyerere National Park. Meet your guide at the airstrip and begin a daytime game drive in an open-sided 4x4, with a packed lunch during the safari. Look for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, lions and other wildlife before checking in at Selous Mapumziko Lodge. After time to rest and dinner, set out on a guided night game drive in an authorized safari area to discover the bush after dark. Sightings vary naturally. Return to the lodge for your first overnight stay.

Full-Day Game Drive & Hot Springs

After breakfast, head into Nyerere National Park for a full day of wildlife viewing in your private open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle. Your guide will explore the park’s varied habitats while you look for elephants, giraffes, buffalo, lions and birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day and visit the hot springs as part of your route, with time to appreciate this distinctive natural feature. Continue the game drive in the afternoon, then return to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for dinner and your second overnight stay.

Bush Walk, Boat Safari & Maasai Village

Begin early with a guided bush walk accompanied by an armed ranger, learning about animal tracks, plants and smaller wildlife. After breakfast, enjoy a boat safari on the Rufiji River, looking for hippos, crocodiles and birds, then visit a nearby Maasai village for a respectful introduction to local culture. Have lunch before transferring to the airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar and onward hotel transfer. The order of activities will be coordinated with the flight schedule. Walking participation follows the ranger’s age and safety requirements.
