Day 1

Genocide memorial visiting and Kings palace

Genocide memorial visiting and Kings palace

Visiting the Genocide Memorial is a deeply moving experience that offers insight into Rwanda’s tragic history and remarkable journey toward reconciliation. The most visited site, the Kigali Genocide Memorial, honors the victims of the 1994 genocide through powerful exhibits, mass burial sites, photographs, and testimonies. It is a place of reflection, remembrance, and learning, helping visitors understand both the scale of the tragedy and the resilience of the Rwandan people.

A visit to the King’s Palace provides a complete meaning of culture. The Museum showcases Rwanda’s pre-colonial royal heritage. Visitors can see the iconic long-horned Inyambo cattle, and learn about the customs and leadership structure of the ancient Rwandan monarchy. The experience gives a vivid glimpse into Rwanda’s cultural identity before modern state formation.

Together, these two sites offer a powerful combination of history and heritage for Rwanda.
