2-Day Short Trekking Kilimanjaro via Marangu Route

Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast at the hotel, you will receive a briefing from one of the guides and then proceed on a drive to Marangu Gate.
After your registration at the Marangu Gate, you will start walking through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, birdlife, and colobus monkeys.
Elevation: 1700m - 2720m.
Distance: 7 km.
Hours: 4-5 hours.
Habitat: Montane Forest.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

You will leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands towards the Horombo encampment. You can have an amazing view of Kibo and Mawenzi. After lunch at Mandara, you hike down to the Marangu gate.
After the hike, you will be driven back to Arusha and back to your respective accommodation.
Elevation: 2720m - 3700m.
Distance: 11km.
Hours: 3-4 hours up/around 2 hours down.
Habitat: Heathland.
