After a refreshing morning meal, the journey persists towards the enchanting timberline, traversing the captivating realms of heath and moor. The endeavor demands approximately 4-6 hours of determined effort to attain the illustrious Horombo Hut, gracefully perched at an elevation of 3700m. From this vantage point, one is bestowed with breathtaking panoramas of the majestic Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, as well as the sprawling expanse of the Masai steppe.

The ongoing stretch of the expedition proves to be a demanding and lengthy one. The route, skillfully engineered, guides us past the "Last Water point" and onwards to the "saddle," a vast plateau adorned with sparse plant life, linking Kibo's main peak to Mawenzi. Our target for today is the Kibo Hut, a destination usually attained after a 5-6 hour trek. Once we arrive, a wholesome dinner awaits, preparing us for an early slumber, as the night will be fleeting.

Day 4

Today marks the momentous occasion of the ultimate ascent to the summit, a widely renowned event known as "The Big Day." Embarking on this arduous journey, set to commence at the stroke of midnight, shall prove to be both demanding and protracted. En route, a notable landmark, the Hans Meyer Cave, shall be encountered at the altitude of 5220m, and onward ascent shall be undertaken with unwavering determination. With the advent of sunrise, the zenith of Kilimanjaro, Gillman's Point, shall be reached at an elevation of 5681m, serving as a vantage point overlooking the crater's rim. The sun's benevolent rays will usher in respite from the chilling night, offering solace. Subsequently, after a final stretch of 1-2 hours' hike, the pinnacle of triumph, Uhuru Peak, awaits at an impressive altitude of 5895m. As you descend to Kibo Hut, the warmth of a nourishing meal shall be savored, complemented by a brief intermission, before resuming the descent towards Horombo Hut.
