Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel/airport, marking the beginning of our program as we head towards Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park, with its endless trees, savanna, and seasonal marshes, is also home to the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania—over 4000 at the last count! In addition, you will see giraffes, buffalos, lions, zebras, gnus, and different types of antelopes and gazelles. Upon your arrival at the park, your driver will take you on a game drive in an open-roof Jeep to explore the area, a fantastic opportunity to take photos! Later, your driver will take you to a picnic site for lunch, and in the afternoon, you will see more of this beautiful park. Finally, you will return to your accommodation in Karatu.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, your safari guide will take you to Ngorongoro Crater, where you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to animals such as herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another drawing card for this scenic national park is its dense predator population, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large, shallow, alkaline lake in the southwest corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. Large numbers of flamingos, hippos, and other waterfowl can usually be seen here. Finally, your safari guide will drive you to Engutoku tok for a short walking safari close to the hippo pool. Enjoy yourself, and if you need to, you can use the washroom here. In the late afternoon, you will return to the lodge.

Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast at Farm of Dreams Lodge, your safari driver will take you to Lake Manyara National Park, which offers breathtaking views and a wide variety of habitats—acacia forests, water forests, cliffs dotted with baobab trees, seaweed-streaked hot springs, swamps, and the lake itself. The small park can support many animal species and incredible birdlife thanks to this. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons in the world, and the lions here can climb trees! Later in the afternoon, we will drive you to Arusha Airport for your Zanzibar flight, ending your safari. Thank you for traveling with us; we hope to welcome you again for your next safari!
