4-Day Mt Kenya Climbing via Sirimon -Descending Sirimon

Nairobi – Sirimon Gate- Old Moses Camp

After picking you up in Nairobi, you'll drive to Nanyuki town for lunch, crossing the equator en route to the Sirimon Park gate (2660m). From the gate, you'll trek up through magnificent montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone before reaching the high-altitude moorland and our first hut (Old Moses camp 3,300m) for dinner and overnight. This is a gentle trek that takes 3 – 4 hrs, gaining an elevation of 680m.

Old Moses – Shipton Camp

After breakfast, you'll follow the track uphill, forking right at the junction. After a water break, you continue the track crossing Ontulili River before turning right, contouring through the Moorland and crossing Like North River and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley, from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the Shipton Camp. This camp is a surreal setting below the towering peaks and glaciers. The resident population includes rock hyrax and sunbirds.

Shipton Camp - Lenana

Summit day is finally here. Early morning wake-up call at 3:30 am, you'll attempt Point Lenana (4985M) at dawn to catch the early sunrise. The trek is approximately 4 hours. You'll descend to Mintos Camp for breakfast, approximately 3 hrs, then further down to road head. Camp lunch is served between the treks, approximately 4 1/2 hrs. Then down further to Bandas Camp, approx time 2 1/2hrs. Dinner and rest will be at Bandas Camp.

Old Moses - Nairobi

After breakfast, you'll walk through the rainforest for 2~3 hours to reach Sirimon Gate to sign out of Mount Kenya National Park. From Sirimon park gate, you will now connect with your transport to Nanyuki Town for lunch. This will be followed by a vehicle transfer back to Nairobi, arriving at approximately 3 pm.
