Day 1

Game drive to Lake Manyara National Park

Game drive to Lake Manyara National Park

Today, the driver-guide will pick you up from Arusha and hold a quick briefing before we depart to Lake Manyara National Park entrée gate. Upon arrival at the gate, you will patiently wait for the permits formalities to be issued and registrations.

Once the permits are sorted, get ready to explore one of the smaller but most scenic park – Lake Manyara National Park. The spectacular alkaline Lake Manyara forms the centre point of this small and very beautiful park with surprisingly diverse fauna and flora. A circuit drive through the park passes through forest, wetlands, grassy plains and acacia forests, offering views of different animals and multitudes of birds. Elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo, water-buck, impala, warthog, zebra, klipspringer, Kirk’s dik-dik and baboon are just a few of the game that call Manyara home. The shallow Hippo Pool offers excellent opportunities for hippo sightings and you will have a spectacular view of the Rift Valley Escarpment.

Game drive to Ngorongoro Crater

Get up early on day 2 of your adventurous safari, sit back and enjoy the journey: the road winds over the Great Rift Valley, through the crater forest and ending at your final destination: the striking Ngorongoro Crater. The mix of forests, valleys, savannah, craters, lakes and swamps is home for a wide range of animals. This collapsed volcano is one of Tanzania’s most visited destinations, and it’s certainly not hard to see why. One of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa and is brimming with elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and even the rare black rhino. Lunch to be saved at the picnic site. Late afternoon return back to the camp for evening leisure, dinner and overnight.

Game drive to Tarangire National Park

Game drive to Tarangire National Park

Today, we depart to Tarangire National Park for the game drive. Tarangire is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania famous for the abundance of age-old baobabs and big families of elephants gathering in the vicinity of the main water source – the Tarangire River. Besides baby elephants and their parents the Tarangire is home to zebras, giraffes, hyenas, wart-hogs, buffalos and many other predators and ungulates. The park will also be a treat for bird enthusiasts. More than 550 bird species abiding in the Tarangire National Park present ample opportunity for bird watching: brightly plumaged yellow necked spurfowls, white crowned shrikes and black necked weavers are among the most frequent sightings here. Late afternoon we drive back to Arusha.
