You will be picked up from Dar es Salaam International Airport or your city center hotel and driven to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), a journey of approximately 5 hours. The park, named after Frederick Courtney Selous, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Its protection dates back to 1896 under the German Governor, and today it stands as one of the largest conservation areas in the world. Your drive to the park follows the Kilwa Road, passing through local villages such as Kibiti and Mloka before reaching Mtemere Gate. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and take some time to relax before heading out a boat safari along the Rufiji River, where you will enjoy stunning scenery and have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife and numerous bird species. This unforgettable river experience lasts approximately two hours, taking you through sunset. In the evening, return to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay at Rufiji River Camp.

Enjoy an early morning walking safari inside Nyerere National Park, a guided nature walk of approximately 2 hours. This immersive experience takes you deep into the bush to explore wildlife, landscapes, and ecosystems up close, focusing on the smaller details of the wilderness often missed during vehicle safaris. After the walking safari, return to the camp for breakfast, collect your lunch boxes, and drive directly to Mikumi National Park (Approximately 7 to 8 hours), passing through local villages and scenic mountain ranges along the way. Upon arrival, check in at Vuma Hills Tented Camp for relaxation and overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, discovering its stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. From the moment you enter the park, you may encounter baboons, zebras, impalas, and the unique Mikumi giraffes, which are considered a crossbreed between reticulated and Maasai giraffes. Lions are also frequently sighted. The game drive takes you along scenic trails to highlights such as the hippo pool, best visited in the late afternoon when the setting sun and bobbing hippo heads create perfect photo opportunities. Along the way, spot buffalos at the Mkata floodplains and elephants near waterholes. Return to Vuma Hills Tented Camp in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, depart from Mikumi National Park to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, arriving in about one hour. Complete registration at the park gate and meet your mountain guide before beginning the trek to Sanje Waterfalls.
The Sanje Waterfalls trail is the most popular route in Udzungwa, leading through lush rainforest to a spectacular 200-meter waterfall with sweeping views over the Kilombero floodplain. At the top, discover two additional waterfalls with clear plunge pools ideal for a refreshing swim. The hike can be completed in half a day for energetic trekkers, though a slower pace is recommended—ascending in the morning, enjoying a picnic lunch, and swimming during the warmer hours. In the afternoon, follow the escarpment trail before descending back to the base. Return to Udzungwa Falls Lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and overnight stay.

Enjoy views of the Great Ruaha River, the Great Rift Escarpment, rolling hills, and savannah plains. Upon arrival, complete park formalities and embark on a game drive en route to Ruaha River Lodge. Check in at the lodge for an evening at leisure surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African bush. Dinner and overnight at the Ruaha River Lodge.

After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive in Ruaha National Park. This vast and largely untouched park, almost as large as the Serengeti, offers a unique convergence of vegetation zones, resulting in a rare combination of wildlife. Here, you may encounter Greater and Lesser Kudu, alongside sable and roan antelopes, a mix not commonly found in other Tanzanian national parks. Ruaha is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to over 350 species of birds. Wildlife is often concentrated along the Great Ruaha River, the lifeblood of the park, where you can spot waterbuck, impala, and Grant’s gazelle. The riverbanks serve as a permanent hunting ground for lions, leopards, jackals, hyenas, and African wild dogs, offering some of the park’s most thrilling predator encounters. You will have a great chance to enjoy the fascinating beauty and diversity of Ruaha National Park before returning to Ruaha River Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Arrive at Msembe Airstrip in time for your 10:45 hrs flight back to Dar es Salaam, arriving at 13:15 hrs. This marks the conclusion of your marvelous wildlife safari, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s spectacular wilderness.
