Day 2

Today, enjoy an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest National Park, renowned as the primate capital of the world. The park is home to the highest diversity of primates in Africa, including wild chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, & more. Your adventure begins early in the morning with a briefing by experienced park rangers at 8:00 am about chimpanzee tracking rules and safety guidelines. You will then venture deep into the rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee families. As you walk through the lush forest, listen to the exciting calls of chimps echoing through the trees. Once located, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, and interact. After lunch at the lodge, continue for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk, a rich eco-tourism site famous for bird watching and primate viewing. Look out for the Great Blue Turaco and several monkey species in this scenic wetland paradise.

After an early breakfast, you will depart Kibale Forest and continue to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations known for its incredible wildlife diversity and scenic landscapes. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, also called the “Mountains of the Moon,” as well as the stunning Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes surrounded by rolling hills and lush countryside. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and relaxation before heading out for an exciting afternoon game drive in the Kasenyi plains. The area is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with numerous bird species commonly seen during the drive. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for an afternoon boat safari on the famous Kazinga Channel. The duration of the trek varies depending on the movement of the gorillas, making the experience even more adventurous and exciting. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one hour observing these gentle endangered giants in their natural habitat as they feed, groom, play, and interact. Along the way, you will make a memorable stop at the famous Uganda Equator for photography, souvenir shopping, and an opportunity to stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time. This stop also offers a chance to enjoy local crafts, snacks, and cultural interactions before continuing the drive.
