The vast grasslands of Ndutu blend into the Serengeti, creating one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife landscapes.

Ndutu lies at the heart of the Great Migration route, where over two million wildebeest and thousands of zebras, antelopes, and gazelles pass each year. Between December and April, the fertile plains become birthing grounds, offering unforgettable sightings of newborn animals and dramatic predator interactions. This calving season attracts a high concentration of predators, making it an exceptional time for wildlife viewing.

With Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek providing vital water sources, the region stays rich in wildlife even during the dry season. Ndutu is also known for hosting all six species of Africa’s big cats—lion, leopard, cheetah, serval, caracal, and African wildcat.

This season draws numerous predators, all eager to seize the opportunity presented by the vulnerable newborns. Witnessing this raw circle of life unfold is an experience you will never forget.

The Serengeti ecosystem supports the largest remaining concentration of plains wildlife on the continent, making it a world-class safari destination.

Be sure to watch for the Serengeti’s famous kopjes—ancient granite outcrops rising from the grasslands.
