Karatu to Serengeti National Park
On this, our second day, we set out for the world-renowned Serengeti, home of the Great Migration and one of the seven wonders of Africa. Our drive today is spectacular as we drive up onto the highlands, and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Spread out before us as far as the eye can see is the vast Serengeti, a 6,900 sq. mile park inhabited by more than three million large animals including more than 1.5 million wildebeest, 250,000 zebra, and a 500,000 Thomson’s gazelle. Large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey. Many smaller animals like rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, mongoose, honey badger, monkey, baboon, and African hare, also here inhabit along with nearly 500 species of birds
After lunch we continue with the game drive en route to the Africa safari Camp where we dine in comfort, drink by the outdoor fire with hyenas slinking past, and recall our day beneath the endless African sky before finally turning in.

Explore the Great Migration Northern Serengeti National Park
The landscape is different in this part of the Serengeti and is made up of hills, riverine forests, plains, and rocky outcrops. The immense Mara River cuts through this area, providing the setting for the mind-blowing river crossing you may enjoy during your time here. During the river crossing, over two million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra and antelope attempt to cross the Mara River in search of fresh grazing and water. While they undergo their most remarkable feat during the migration, Nile crocodiles do not make it any easier for them! On the other side, lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs can be found waiting with growling stomachs and high hopes for a delicious meal.

Serengeti National Park (Central) to Karatu
The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands which allow for excellent sightings of wildlife. The Serengeti's climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years. Whilst it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the annual Great Migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest; accompanied by large numbers of zebra and antelope move in an annual pattern, constantly seeking fresh grazing. The migration can be found during any given month; you just need to know where to look! The question should really be about the 'best places' to see the animals during a certain time of year. In addition to the iconic landscapes, you have a good chance of encountering predators and you may see lion, cheetah and leopard. It is a truly life-changing experience.
In the afternoon, you will start your journey back to Karatu, hopefully you had great time in the Serengeti.

Ngorongoro crater tour to Arusha
Leave your camp very early in the morning and descends, 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the Crater is a Big 5 country and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena. The Crater’s forests shelter elephants, and buffalo, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. Late in the afternoon leave the crater, and drive back to Arusha. Our guide will drop you at the airport or your chosen accommodation.
