Nairobi to Amboseli – Afternoon Game Drive

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading southeast through the scenic Athi plains toward Amboseli National Park. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours by road, offering a changing landscape as you leave the city behind and approach the iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Upon arrival at your lodge or camp, you’ll check in and enjoy a leisurely lunch. After some time to relax, your afternoon game drive begins. Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of elephants and excellent views of Africa’s tallest mountain. As you explore the park, you may spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, cheetahs, and a variety of bird species, especially around the park’s marshy swamps and open plains. As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the landscape, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Explore Amboseli with game drives and relaxation

The day starts early with a sunrise game drive, when wildlife is most active and Mount Kilimanjaro is often visible in its full glory, before clouds gather later in the day. After the morning drive, you’ll return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some downtime—whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying the views, or perhaps reading a book with the sounds of nature in the background.

Later in the afternoon, you'll head out for another game drive, exploring different areas of the park in search of new wildlife sightings. Amboseli's landscape is diverse, ranging from dry lake beds and swamps to acacia woodland, providing a rich variety of habitats for wildlife. You’ll return to camp in the early evening for dinner and your second overnight stay under the African sky.

Amboseli to Nairobi – Return Journey

After breakfast, you’ll check out from your lodge and begin the return journey to Nairobi. Though this day doesn’t include a game drive, the drive back still offers scenic views and a chance to reflect on your safari experience. You’ll arrive in Nairobi in the early afternoon, marking the end of your 3-day adventure in Amboseli.
