Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading southwest toward the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes you through the picturesque Great Rift Valley, with brief stops for scenic views and refreshments. You’ll continue through the rural highlands and arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch.

After settling in and enjoying your meal, you’ll head out on your first afternoon game drive in the reserve. As the golden sun casts its light over the savannah, you’ll begin spotting a variety of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and possibly predators like lions or cheetahs on the prowl. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge or camp.

This day is devoted to fully immersing yourself in the Masai Mara. After an early breakfast, set off on a morning game drive when wildlife activity is at its peak. Your expert guide will help track animals and explain the intricate ecosystems that make the Mara one of Africa’s most extraordinary safari destinations.

You may return for lunch and rest, or head out for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush. Expect encounters with predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as herbivores such as wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. If you're visiting during the Great Migration (typically July to October), you may witness thrilling river crossings and mass wildlife movements.

In the afternoon, enjoy another game drive or an optional cultural visit (additional cost) to a nearby Maasai village, where you can learn about their traditional customs and daily life. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and a relaxed overnight stay under the stars.

Masai Mara to Nairobi

After breakfast at the lodge, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi, retracing your route through the Rift Valley.
