Embark on an early adventure after breakfast, departing at 6 am from your accommodation to ensure ample time to reach the rim of the crater and descend into its vast expanse. On one side lies the Lerai Forest, boasting a classic mountain forest landscape with tropical characteristics.

The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a diverse population of wildlife, including approximately 120 lions with distinct territories, 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebras, 400 hyenas, and around 50 black rhinos. Resident herds benefit from year-round water sources and are joined by migratory species during certain seasons. Buffalo, servals, jackals, Thomson's gazelles, and elands are also abundant, while hippos inhabit pools and swamplands. The crater's highland birdlife adds vibrant hues to the landscape, with flamingos often gracing the shores of Lake Magadi.
