You'll be met by our tour guide-driver and transferred to the Gables Hotel Karen Nairobi. Karen Gables is a characterful Cape Dutch-style private home that sits peacefully off the road in its own verdant gardens. A true home from home, there are numerous private spots to sit and unwind. It’s a small boutique hotel with 7 rooms, 20 minutes from the capital and near Nairobi National Park.

Day 2

Nairobi Excursions

Nairobi Excursions

After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion. Begin with a visit to the Giraffe Centre, then visit The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for the 11h00 public visit (subject to availability). You'll have a lunch break at Mat Bronze Restaurant (or a similar restaurant).

After lunch, visit the Karen Blixen Museum. The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya). Visitors get an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, interact with them, and feed them. The Karen Blixen Museum is a beautiful farmhouse where Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa, lived between 1914 and 1931. Guided tours are offered continuously. A museum shop offers handicrafts, posters and postcards, the movie "Out of Africa", books and other Kenyan souvenirs. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is an elephant nursery bordering Nairobi National Park, offering a haven for orphaned baby elephants rescued from parks and reserves in Kenya.

Day 3

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a wildlife conservancy of 360 square kilometers (140 square miles) in Central Kenya's Laikipia County. It is situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. Ol Pejeta's mission to safeguard vulnerable species extends far beyond black rhinos, Northern white rhinos and chimpanzees. It is the only place in the world that harbours the 2 last remaining Northern white rhinos. Other vulnerable or endangered species include elephant, African wild dog, cheetah, lion, leopard, hippo, Grevy's zebra and the locally threatened Jackson's hartebeest.

Day 4

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Enjoy an early morning game drive and an afternoon game drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Get to spot the only 2 remaining Northern white rhinos in the world. They also offer an optional night game drive at an extra cost. With the help of a spotlight, the drives can produce some unusual sightings of nocturnal animals, including aardvark, white-tailed mongoose, gorillas and perhaps, bat eared fox. Lions, often sleeping during the day, are frequently sighted alert and active at night, and even, on occasion, the more elusive leopard. We recommend that you come dressed appropriately to keep warm.

Ol Pejeta to Samburu National Reserve

Ol Pejeta to Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, drive to Samburu National Reserve. Samburu National Reserve is one of the famous safari destinations in East Africa. It is located in Northern Kenya and is a premier game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River. This vast expanse of remote, pristine wilderness measures 165 square kilometers and borders the Ewaso Ng'iro River to the south, separating it from the Buffalo Springs National Reserve.

Samburu Reserve is a unique wildlife conservation haven famous for abundant rare species known as the Samburu Special Five; Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the Beisa oryx. The reserve is also home to a population of close to 900 elephants. Large predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs are an important attraction. Kamunyak, the famous lioness who adopted a baby oryx, is a resident of the reserve.

Day 6

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve

Spend this whole day exploring Samburu Game Reserve. Start with an early morning game drive, when the light is perfect for good photographic scenery coupled with the concentration of wildlife on the ground. Then, go on mid-morning and afternoon game drives, where you can spot all 3 large cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

We can organise extra activities at an additional cost, including a bush breakfast or dinner (weather permitting), sundowner, cultural visits, lectures on Samburu culture by resident naturalists, entertainment by local Samburu warriors, and guided bush walks in Samburu.

After an early breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airstrip in time for your flight to Masai Mara. On arrival, you'll be met by our driver-guide and have an en-route game drive as you head to the camp.

Masai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved savanna wilderness in southwestern Kenya along the Tanzanian border. Its animals include lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, and hippos. Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills and is crossed by the Mara and Talek Rivers. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of the Maasai people.

These 2 days are spent exploring the jewel of Kenya. View the famous wonder of the world that takes place between July and September as you watch over 450 species of wildlife in their natural setting. A picnic lunch is served at the park at the Mara River, the crossing point of the wildebeest and zebras from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya, as you interact with the monkeys.
