Tarangire National Park & Overnight in Karatu

Your safari begins in Arusha, where guests who arrive the day before enjoy a complimentary overnight at Njiro Legacy Hotel (dinner at own expense). After breakfast, you are picked up and drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its towering baobab trees and large elephant herds. You enjoy a full game drive, searching for lions, giraffes, zebras and many antelopes along the Tarangire River. A picnic lunch is served in the park. In the late afternoon you leave the park and continue to Karatu, where you overnight at Mvuli Lodge, a comfortable mid-range lodge set in the green highlands.

Ngorongoro Crater & Drive to Serengeti

After an early breakfast at Mvuli Lodge you drive up to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. This natural amphitheatre is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including lions, buffaloes, zebras, hippos and, with some luck, the rare black rhino. You enjoy a game drive on the crater floor with a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. In the afternoon you ascend the crater and continue through the highlands towards the Serengeti, entering the park via Naabi Hill Gate and enjoying a game drive en route. You arrive at Dove Serengeti Camp in central Serengeti for dinner and overnight.

Full-Day Game Drive in Central Serengeti

Today is a full day to explore the world-renowned Serengeti. After breakfast you head out with your guide in a pop-up roof 4x4, following river lines and open plains in search of big cats, elephants, buffaloes and large herds of wildebeest and zebras. Depending on the season, you may track the movements of the Great Migration or focus on areas with high predator activity. A picnic lunch is enjoyed in the bush to maximise your time in the park. In the late afternoon you return to Dove Serengeti Camp to relax by the fire, enjoy dinner and spend another night under the starry African sky.

From Serengeti to Karatu via Ngorongoro Area

After breakfast you enjoy a short game drive as you exit Serengeti, then travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with scenic viewpoints along the way. By afternoon you arrive in Karatu and check in at a comfortable mid-range lodge. Here you can relax and enjoy dinner before tomorrow’s crater tour.
