The park consists of animals such as buffalos, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, warthogs, jackals, hartebeests etc. The park is also home to more than 500 bird species including the Maasai Ostrich. Serengeti's scenery is renowned for its grassland plains in the southeast. The northern part of Serengeti is hillier and rocky. To the west on the Grumeti, valleys, rivers and forest can be found.
The Serengeti National Park can be visited all year round and wildlife viewing is better during the dry season (June to October). June and July is the best time for the wildebeest migration.

Full day in Serengeti National Park
We dedicate this whole day to our exploration of the Serengeti, the land of the Maasai, the community who have inhabited this area for millennia. The Serengeti is host to the world's last great terrestrial migration, that of the wildebeest and zebra. This awe-inspiring circular pilgrimage from north to south to west and back again is season dependent, passing through the terrain where we safari.
On our Serengeti safari, we can hope to spot many creatures. We continue to explore the park after our picnic lunch, and our guide will, with his intimate knowledge of the terrain, bring us to some extraordinary landscapes where we will see abundant animals in their habitat.
As the adventurous day draws to a close, we make our way back to our luxury tented lodge in Serengeti at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.

Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu
After breakfast, we hit the road to experience the wonderful Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Africa. More precisely termed - a caldera - this is the best place for game viewing in all of Tanzania. An enclosed ecosystem, the caldera is home to some 25,000 large mammals.
Descending down the bumpy, winding track toward the caldera floor, we note our passage through several different climactic zones until, 600m down, we roam out onto the broad expanse. We can expect to see buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, elephant, reedbuck, and Thomson's gazelle. We may spot our predator friends like lion and cheetah lounging in the grass or in action, and some of the more than 500 bird species that inhabit this area. With a little bit of luck, we might catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass.
After our extensive game drive within the crater, we return to our carefully selected quality lodge in Karatu.

Our game drive takes us to the lakeshore where, whilst viewing the thousands of feeding flamingos, we can hope to spot monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalos, elephants, and with some luck, lions lounging in the trees.
The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab-dotted cliffs. Animals gather at the river and giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest are often seen. The park is also home to buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest, all of whom are closely attended by a range of predators like Simba the lion king and his cousin, the leopard.
