Arrial - Sightseeing Addis

You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Refresh and begin your sightseeing of Addis with the drive up to Entoto for a panoramic view of Addis. Descend down and drive to National museum where you will have a chance to spot the oldest hominids of ‘Lucy’ fossil. Visit and proceed to the Holy Trinity built during the WWII. Then to the Ethnographic museum, which use to be the palace of Emperor Hailesellase. To wrap up you will drive to Merkato, the biggest open market in East Africa. Visit and drive back to your hotel for your overnight.

Fly Addis to Semera then drive to Erta Ale

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Semera. Be met upon arrival and drive to Erta Ale, visiting en route
the Lake Afdera, (the salt Lake that is located in the heart of Danakil Depressions and in this lake you may a chance of the natural hot springs). Upon your arrival at Dodom you will trek for an hour to reach on the top of the calderas to see the active volcano.

Drive Erta Ale to Ahmed Ela

After an early breakfast you will walk back to Dodom where you can get your car. Then you will be loaded and continue your driving to Ahmed Ela where late in the afternoon you will get a chance to Camel Caravans, loading tones of salt bars and travel to Mekele.

Hawzen

After an early breakfast you will have an excursion to Dallol, the second lowest point in the world next to Dead Sea which is 116 mts below sea level. Watching the salt caravans is one of the highlight of Dallol Depression. Visit and drive to Ahmed Ela to have your lunch. Then you will drive to Hawzen for your overnight.

Hawzen

This day you will drive to the foot of Geraltha to visit the monastery of Debre Mariam Korkor, which dated back 6th century. After a few minutes’ walk from Mariam korkor you can visit the small rock church known as Abba Daniel's Prayer room. Then drive back to Hawzen visiting en route the Dugum Sellase, one of the oldest monasteries dated back to 4th century.

Hawzen

After breakfast you will drive to the foot of the Debre Tsion mountain. You will take the impornat materials for your trekking to Debre Tsion Abune Abreham Monastery which entirely carved from the living rock. You will get a chance to see the ceremonial umbrella made out of the skin of cow which dated back to the 6th century. Then you will drive to Mariam Mariam Berakit, one of the oldest monasteries dated back to 4th century.

Excursion to Abune Yemeata then drive to Mekele to fly to Addis Ababa

Today is the last day in Hawzen and you will you drive to Megeb and will hike up to the monastery of Abune Yemata, one of the nine saints who came to Ethiopian to expand Christianity. Walk back and begin your journey to Mekele for your flight back to Addis. In the evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
