Day 1

Nairobi – Masai Mara

After breakfast in your hotel in Nairobi, you will be picked up by your professional guide and depart the Nairobi region for the Masai Mara, driving through the dramatic Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at the viewpoint, where you will have a chance to take photos with a great view of the valley. Proceed to the Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch at the hotel.

This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains, famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration. It is home to the Big Five: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. At 4 pm, proceed for an evening game drive, tracking various animal species and birds with your driver-guide. Dinner and overnight are at your chosen accommodation.

Day 2

After breakfast, proceed on a full-day game drive within the reserve. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills. The reserve is the best park for game in Kenya, as it has an extensive road and track network, which allows for close-range viewing and photography. Break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool, looking out for hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight are at the chosen accommodation.

You will arrive in the evening and be dropped off at the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

The park contains a sanctuary for the conservation of white rhinos, while species like Cape buffalo and waterbuck can be seen near the shoreline. Enjoy a hot lunch and drive to Naivasha. You have the option to take a boat ride on this freshwater lake to see hippos and fish eagles at an extra cost. Dinner and your overnight stay are at a hotel/lodge.

Day 5

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Hell’s Gate for a game drive. This is the only place one can walk inside the park, as there are no predators. You can decide whether to do the game drive with the safari vehicle or hire a bicycle to cycle the 11 km down to the gorge. At the gorge, a guide will share information about the rock layers. Later, drive or cycle back to the gate, and leave Naivasha with an en-route lunch on the way back to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Nairobi or transferred to the airport.
