After breakfast, you proceed on a full-day city tour of Mombasa, the second-largest city in Kenya, situated on the East Coast bordering the Indian Ocean. The town boasts architecture such as curved doors, customs, languages, and cultures adapted from the Arabs. Old Town is where you will best experience the exquisite beauty of this ancient port. Fort Jesus, a Portuguese fort built in 1593 on Mombasa Island, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Centre and a top tourist destination in Mombasa. A conservation lab, a primate research center, and a museum are all hosted in the fort.
After lunch at Mbobolulu, you head for Haller Park, named after Dr. René Haller. The unique and globally recognized park, which started in 1954 as a cement factory, is home to various bush pigs, marsh mongooses, serval cats, duikers, bushbucks, oryx, elands, waterbucks, zebras, Cape buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and various animals.

Mombasa to Tsavo East
At 08h00, after breakfast, check out and drive to Tsavo East National Park. Tsavo East forms part of the vast Tsavo National Park, together with Tsavo West National Park. Tsavo East, the largest of the two, is midway between Nairobi and the coastal town of Mombasa. Elephants roam freely in this arid bush that forms part of the Yatta Plateau. Larger mammals are abundant, including hirola, gerenuk, lesser kudu, waterbuck, crocodile, hippo, elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo, and rhino.
It’s not all about animals, though, as major physical attractions abound. You can also explore the Galana River, the Lugard Falls and their weirdly eroded rocks, and the Mudanda Rock next to Aruba Dam - an elephant haven. Cameras should not be forgotten, as over 500 bird species add to the perfect shot opportunities. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at Voi Safari Lodge. Later, after leisure time, go on a game drive in the park, returning late in the evening to your lodge.

Tsavo East to Tsavo West
At 06h30, go on an early-morning game drive in the park. A late breakfast will be provided at your lodge. Later, check out and drive to Tsavo West National Park. The park is a world-renowned wildlife viewing spot. Here, you lay eyes and lenses on the almost extinct Basra reed warblers, corncrakes, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, lions, hippos, rhinos, elephants, crocodiles, vervet monkeys, antelopes, baboons, and giraffes.
This park is a birdwatcher’s paradise, and the range of flora is truly captivating. Rocky ridges in the park are a major geophysical attraction, and the Mzima Springs are the source of Mombasa’s water. These springs are recharged daily with hundreds of millions of crystal-clear water litres by underground streams from the Chyulu Hills. At Mzima, various animals gather for a drink, particularly in the Dry season. You can spot crocodiles and hippos here.
