Here, you meet your guides and trekking team, receive a briefing on the Lemosho Route, safety procedures, and acclimatization tips. You check your trekking gear, confirm arrangements, and enjoy dinner at the hotel. An early rest ensures you are fully prepared for the trek starting the next morning.

Day 2

After breakfast, you drive to Lemosho Gate for park registration. The trek begins through dense rainforest, alive with giant trees, moss, and wildlife, including monkeys and exotic birds. You arrive at Big Tree Camp, nestled in the forest, where dinner is served and you enjoy your first night on the mountain, breathing fresh air and soaking in the sounds of nature..

Day 3

Leaving the rainforest, you ascend toward the Shira Plateau, transitioning into moorland with giant heathers and lobelias. The trail gradually opens, providing expansive views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks and valleys below. The trek is moderate, allowing your body to acclimatize while enjoying the scenery. Shira 1 Camp, located on the western Shira Plateau at 3,500 meters, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding highlands. Dinner and rest here prepare you for the longer trek to Shira 2 Camp.
Day 4
Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

Today, you trek further across the Shira Plateau, gaining altitude and passing unique rock formations and volcanic terrain. The trail is mostly open, with panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The moderate climb allows continued acclimatization while providing opportunities for photography and short breaks. Shira 2 Camp is set at 3,840 meters, providing stunning sunset views over the plateau. Trekkers enjoy dinner and an early night, preparing for the trek to Lava Tower and Barranco Camp the next day.

Day 5

This is a critical acclimatization day. You trek from Shira 2 Camp toward Lava Tower, ascending steeply to 4,600 meters before descending to Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters. The trail passes through alpine desert with minimal vegetation and dramatic volcanic rock formations. At Lava Tower, climbers rest and adjust to higher altitude while taking in panoramic views. After lunch, you descend into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant senecio plants and cliffs. Barranco Camp lies below the famous Barranco Wall, offering rest and preparation for the scramble the next day.

The day ends at Karanga Camp at 4,100 meters, a scenic valley camp where you rest, hydrate, and enjoy dinner. This stage builds strength and acclimatization ahead of the final push to Barafu Camp.

Day 7

From Karanga Camp, the trail continues through sparse alpine desert, gradually ascending toward Barafu Camp at 4,600 meters. The climb is steady but challenging, with stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Barafu Camp serves as the base for the summit attempt. Climbers rest, hydrate, and have an early dinner before a short rest to prepare for the midnight ascent. Proper acclimatization, hydration, and layering are emphasized for the physically demanding climb to Uhuru Peak.
Day 8

The summit attempt begins around midnight. Climbers ascend steep, rocky paths under headlamps in cold, thin air. Reaching Stella Point at sunrise rewards trekkers with breathtaking views of the crater rim and surrounding glaciers. From Stella Point, you continue to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5,895 meters, celebrating your achievement. The descent begins to Barafu Camp for rest and refreshments, then continues through alpine desert and rainforest to Mweka Camp. From Mweka Gate, park formalities are completed, and you are transferred back to Arusha, concluding your life-changing adventure.
