Day 1

Transfer to Bukavu - Democratic Republic of Congo

Your driver guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel for a transfer to Bukavu via the Cyangugu border. You will pass via the Rwandan countryside with en route stopovers at the Nyanza Palace for a cultural tour and Butare Museum for a brief Visit. You will also have a stopover for a lunch break and proceed via Nyungwe Forest to Cyangugu where your Congo guide will take you to your Hotel for a rest. Dinner & Overnight at Orchids Safari Club.

Day 2

Lowland Gorilla Trekking & Visit Lwiro Sanctuary

Lowland Gorilla Trekking & Visit Lwiro Sanctuary

After breakfast at the Hotel, you will be driven to the park headquarters for a briefing about the lowland gorilla trek. From here you will proceed to the park hiking for 2 to 3 hours amidst sighting of a number of wildlife including birds. The park has 2 habituated gorilla families that are open to tourism. These include the Chimanuka and Bonneanne that also have young ones. You will track one of these gorilla families and will be allowed to stay in the presence of the gorillas for one hour. After this great encounter, you will return for a visit to Lwiro sanctuary where you will meet resident wildlife species. In the evening you will return to your Hotel in Bukavu for Meals and Overnight at Orchids Safari Club.
