After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of wildlife viewing. The drive from Central Serengeti to the crater rim is approximately 3–4 hours, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Often called the eighth wonder of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the crater boasts one of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife. Enjoy excellent chances to spot the Big Five, including the endangered black rhinoceros, as well as lions and large herds of buffalo year-round. A picnic lunch will be served on the crater floor. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater and continue to your lodge 40 minutes to Karatu for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
