Day 1

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Once everyone is aboard, you will head towards Tarangire National Park. The 150 km drive takes about three hours.

The park is famous for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be greeted by ancient and gigantic baobab trees, which make even animals like giraffes look small. The game drive continues until late afternoon and includes a stop for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 sq km park gets its name from the Tarangire River, which flows through it. The river attracts a wide variety of animals, and you should be able to spot elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebras.

If you’re lucky, you might also see tree-climbing pythons and long-necked gerenuks. Tarangire National Park has the highest concentration of elephants, offering a unique chance to observe interactions between elephant families.

Tarangire National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will make an early descent at around 9:00 am to the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq km and a depth of over 2,000 feet.

Our five-hour game drive on the crater floor will offer plenty of animal sightings, so keeping your camera ready is highly recommended. African elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions are found in abundance. After a picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo Pool, you will begin the steep ascent to the crater rim for your exit.
