Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your beach hotel in Mombasa, Diani, Watamu, or Malindi. You’ll travel inland via a scenic road journey, passing rural villages and sisal plantations as you approach Tsavo West National Park. After entering the park through the Mtito Andei or Tsavo River Gate, your game viewing begins immediately en route to the lodge or camp.

Upon arrival at your safari accommodation, you’ll enjoy a warm welcome and lunch, followed by time to relax. Later in the afternoon, head out on your first game drive, exploring the park’s rugged landscape dotted with volcanic hills, acacia woodlands, and open plains. Tsavo West is home to an abundance of wildlife including red-dusted elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and elands.

Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, you’ll set off for a full day of exploration in Tsavo West. The day’s highlight includes a visit to the famous Mzima Springs, a natural oasis where crystal-clear waters bubble from underground sources. Here, you can view hippos and crocodiles through an underwater observation chamber, a rare perspective in the African bush.

Continue your game drive across different ecological zones of the park, including the Shetani Lava Flows, a dramatic volcanic field formed centuries ago. Throughout the day, you may encounter leopards, hartebeests, ostriches, and a variety of bird species.

You’ll return to the lodge in time to relax and enjoy dinner.
