Nairobi to Samburu-Scenic Drive & Afternoon Game Drive

Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Nairobi, traveling through Kenya’s central highlands and past the slopes of Mount Kenya before descending into the semi-arid wilderness of Samburu. On arrival, you’ll check in to your chosen lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch before heading out for your first afternoon game drive. The reserve’s open landscapes provide excellent visibility for spotting wildlife, including the “Samburu Special Five” — species unique to the region: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk (the long-necked antelope known for standing on its hind legs to feed). As the sun sets, return to your camp for dinner and an evening under the starlit African sky.

Full Day Safari in Samburu – Game Drives & Cultural Visit

The second day is devoted to exploring Samburu in depth. You’ll begin with an early morning game drive when animals are most active and the golden light accentuates the dramatic scenery. The Ewaso Nyiro River attracts a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, crocodiles, and an abundance of bird species. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs are also frequently sighted here. After a hearty breakfast, you may choose to relax at your lodge or visit a nearby Samburu village (optional, at a small extra cost) to experience the fascinating culture and traditions of the Samburu people. Later, enjoy another game drive in the late afternoon, as predators emerge and elephants gather by the riverbanks before dusk.

Morning Safari & Return to Nairobi
