Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or residence in Nairobi before departing north towards Samburu National Reserve. Enjoy a scenic drive through Kenya’s central highlands, passing through changing landscapes, local communities, and the dramatic views of Mount Kenya along the way. Arrive at your lodge or camp in Samburu in time for check-in and take some time to relax and settle in. Later in the afternoon, head out for your first game drive through the reserve, exploring the rugged landscapes in search of unique wildlife species including Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, beisa oryx, elephants, lions, and other game. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive exploring the wildlife-rich areas of Samburu, with a special focus along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeline of the reserve. The river attracts a wide variety of animals, including elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, and numerous bird species, especially during the dry seasons. Continue through the reserve’s scenic landscapes of rocky hills, acacia woodlands, and open plains while searching for predators and Samburu’s rare northern species. Return to the lodge or camp for lunch and a relaxing break before heading out again for an afternoon game drive. Spend the evening enjoying more wildlife sightings before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.
