Day 1

Arrival & Mokoro Transfer into the Delta

Arrival & Mokoro Transfer into the Delta

Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from Maun. You will travel by road towards the Okavango Delta, enjoying scenic views along the way as the landscape gradually changes into one of Africa’s most unique ecosystems.

Upon arrival at the mokoro station, you will meet your experienced poler (guide), who will brief you on the journey ahead. From here, you will glide silently through the waterways in a traditional dugout canoe (mokoro), offering a peaceful and intimate way to explore the Delta. Keep an eye out for birds, frogs, and other wildlife along the channels.

After approximately 1–2 hours on the water, you will arrive at a remote island where your bush camp will be set up. After settling in, enjoy a guided nature walk, where your guide will introduce you to the smaller details of the Delta ecosystemtracks, plants, and possible wildlife sightings.

Dinner will be served around the campfire, followed by an evening under the stars.

Day 2

Walking Safari, Mokoro Training and Sundowner

Walking Safari, Mokoro Training and Sundowner

Wake up early for a guided morning walk during the cooler hours of the day. This is the best time to track animals and observe the Delta as it comes to life. Your guide will share insights into animal behavior, tracking techniques, and the surrounding environment.

Return to camp for a well-deserved brunch and relaxation during the heat of the day.

In the afternoon, enjoy a fishing activity (seasonal and catch-and-release), followed by a hands-on experience where you will learn how to pole a mokoro yourself under the guidance of your poler. This is a fun and interactive way to connect with the traditional way of navigating the Delta.

Later in the afternoon, head out for a mokoro excursion combined with a short guided walk. As the day comes to an end, enjoy a peaceful sundowner on the water, watching the sunset over the Delta one of the most memorable moments of the safari.

Return to camp for dinner and storytelling around the fire.
