After a briefing, depart north through the scenic highlands, passing lush coffee and pineapple plantations. Cross the equator at Nanyuki and descend into the dramatic semi-arid landscape of Samburu. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch, followed by some rest. In the afternoon, head out for your first thrilling game drive across the rugged terrain, where palm-fringed riverbanks attract elephants, lions, and the distinctive Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Day 3

Samburu – Aberdare National Park

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive toward the lush central highlands. The scenery changes dramatically as arid plains give way to forested hills and cool mountain air. Arrive at Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch, then transfer to your tree lodge set deep within Aberdare National Park. The rest of the day is spent relaxing and observing wildlife from viewing decks overlooking the lodge’s floodlit waterhole. Elephants, buffalo, and bushbuck often visit to drink, and lucky guests may spot a leopard or giant forest hog. The Aberdares’ tranquil atmosphere, crisp air, and thick bamboo forests create a magical experience. Dinner and overnight at the lodge, with wildlife viewing continuing into the night.
