Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Your safari driver-guide will pick you up either from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi early in the morning. You will travel overland through coffee and tea plantations to your lodge, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. After lunch, you’ll head to The Ark, located in the forested mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at an altitude of 7,000 feet.

This outstanding lodge offers high-altitude game viewing, including sightings of animals rarely seen elsewhere, such as the giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo antelope.

Wildlife can be observed from various levels—from outside, where you can fully experience the sights, sounds, and scents of the forest, or inside, where you can relax with a cup of tea and stay warm and cozy. A herd of elephants might be just feet away, and if you’re lucky, a leopard or a large male lion may make an appearance.

Aberdare National Park - Shaba National Reserve

This morning, you will travel by road to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful, with arid savannahs sustained by the scenic Ewaso Nyiro River. It is one of Kenya’s most well-protected areas and is home to species found only north of the equator, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, and Beisa oryx.

Shaba National Reserve

As dawn breaks in golden hues, you’ll begin your day in the bush, scanning the river from your tent’s veranda with a steaming cup of coffee in hand. Before the dew evaporates from the grass, you’ll be off in pursuit of elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. The day is spent alternating between exploration in the bush and relaxation in your cozy camp or lodge.

Samburu National Reserve - Nairobi
