Day 1

Depart Addis Ababa at 7:40 AM, arriving in Arba Minch by 8:45 AM. After breakfast, explore the Forty Springs and visit the Crocodile Market. Enjoy a thrilling boat trip on Lake Chamo to spot hippos, giant crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife.

Savor lunch at Paradise or Haile Resort with stunning lake views. Later, visit the Dorze community to see UNESCO-recognized beehive huts and discover their centuries-old weaving heritage. Overnight in Arba Minch—a paradise town celebrated for its lush landscapes and pleasant climate.

Fun fact: Arba Minch means “Forty Springs” in Amharic—offering the perfect blend of nature, culture, and adventure!

Day 2

Arbaminch to Konso village

Arbaminch to Konso village

After breakfast, we will drive to Konso and have a lunch break. In Konso, we will visit one of the nine UNESCO registered villages. The Konso people are known for erecting stones and poles called generation poles, which are raised every 18 years to mark the start of a new generation. The age of a village can be determined by the number of poles that are still standing. After the visit, we will drive to Turmi for the overnight stay.

Day 3

Drive to Kara village and Turmi activities

Drive to Kara village and Turmi activities

After breakfast, we will drive to Kara Village, home to the Kara people. They live along the east banks of the Omo River and are renowned for their large, picturesque settlements and the striking traditional body and face painting often seen among the children.

After exploring the village, we will return to Turmi for a lunch break. In the afternoon, if we are fortunate, we may witness the remarkable bull-jumping ceremony—a rite of passage in which a young man earns the title of “man” by leaping over 5 to 13 cattle lined up in a row.

If there is no bull-jumping event that day, we will instead visit a Hamer community in the afternoon. In the evening, we will enjoy a vibrant celebration featuring the Evan Gady dance, also known as the “night dance.”.

Day 4

Drive to Dassanch tribe village and Jinka

Drive to Dassanch tribe village and Jinka

In the morning, we will drive to Omorate and cross the great Omo River by local boat to visit the Dassanech community. After the visit, we will return to Turmi for a lunch break before continuing to Dimeka town, where the Hamer, Beena, and Kara peoples gather for their lively weekly market.

If there is no bull-jumping ceremony on Friday, there is a higher chance of witnessing it on this day—a captivating rite of passage where a young man leaps over several cattle to mark his transition into adulthood.

If no bull-jumping event takes place, we will drive to Jinka. For those with energy to spare, an optional late-afternoon visit to the Jinka Museum will offer further insight into the diverse cultures of the Omo Valley.

Day 5

Drive to Mursi village and fly back to Addis

Drive to Mursi village and fly back to Addis

Early in the morning, we will drive to a Mursi village, where you can experience the distinctive traditions of this small cultural group in the Lower Omo Valley. Mursi women are renowned for their elaborate lip plates made of clay, worn as a form of adornment, while Mursi men are known for painting striking patterns on their bodies.

After the visit, we will return to Jinka for a lunch break before departing for Addis Ababa at 13:10, arriving at 14:20.
