From Addisabeba drive to Awash National Park

From Addis Ababa, we drive to Awash National Park (211 km via Adama/Nazret). Our driver and guide will pick you up from the hotel at 7:30 AM. We’ll join the expressway, reaching Adama in about an hour. En route, we’ll stop at Beseka Lake, a haven for birds like Striated Herons, Black-headed Herons, Red-billed Teal, and Common Cranes. Depending on our birding stop, the 211 km drive will take around 4-5 hours. For accommodation, options include Doho Lodge, a hot spring resort 20 km away. Driving from the park gate toward the Awash River, we may spot Beisa Oryx, Klipspringer, baboons, and more. As temperatures cool in the afternoon, we’ll embark on a game drive. Besides earlier species, we might see Soemmerring’s Gazelle, Kudus, Warthogs, and if lucky, Leopards and Lions. With over 400 bird species recorded, Awash offers diverse terrain of grassland and acacia scrub along the river.
