Day 1

Today, you will be picked up from the airport or another preferred location in Kigali city by a Big Apes African representative, do a city tour, and then drive to Musanze, west of Kigali city. You will visit Iby’iwachu cultural village, currently known as Gorilla Guardians village, where you have an opportunity to interact with the locals, participate in traditional folklore and dance, and learn about the ancient Rwandan traditions. After the visit, you will continue to your lodge outside Volcanoes National Park, where you will have dinner and an overnight stay. Lunch will be had along the way.

Day 2

You will start early with breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing in preparation for golden monkey tracking. You'll spend an hour with these beautiful and playful bamboo-associated primates is magical and is worth the trek. Volcanoes National Park is largely a tropical rain forest, so you need to carry some rain gear, wear sturdy hiking boots, garden gloves, and a lot of drinking water. At a small fee of 20 dollars, you can hire a porter to help you carry your bag and give you a hand in the slippery areas. After the trek, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in preparation for gorilla trekking.

Day 3

You will start have an early breakfast and then drive to the park for a briefing in preparation for your gorilla trek. After the briefing, you will be allocated a ranger guide who will lead you into the forest in search of the gorillas. An encounter with the gorillas is a once in a life time experience that allows you to come face to face with these gentle giants. You will be allowed to spend an hour viewing the gorillas and taking pictures with them. Bwindi is a tropical rainforest, so you have to carry some rain gear, wear sturdy hiking boots, garden gloves, and carry a lot of drinking water. At a small fee of 20 dollars, you can hire a porter to help you carry your bag and give you a hand in the slippery areas. After the trek, you will transfer to the Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the most biodiverse conservation area. Depending on arrival time, you can do a game drive in search of tree-climbing lions depending on the time of arrival.

Day 4

You will have breakfast and go on an early morning guided game drive in the Ishasha sector. This part of Queen Elizabeth is famous for tree-climbing lions, which can be seen lounging on large acacia tree branches. You will then transfer to Queen Elizabeth for an afternoon boat ride along the Kazinga channel. This channel not only connects two lakes, Edward and George, but also is a major water source for the animals in the park. While on the boat, you will be able to see elephants, buffalo, antelopes, warthogs, among other animals, as they come to drink from the channel. You will also see some giant Nile crocodiles and schools of hippos taking a swim, along with several birds like kingfishers. After the boat ride, depending on the time, you may have a short evening game drive through the park. On a good day, you may see a lion or a leopard.

Day 5

You will start with breakfast and drive to Kalinzu Forest Reserve, where you will do chimpanzee trekking. The activity starts with a briefing and then, in groups of 8, you enter the forest in search of the primates. Once you have located the chimpanzee group, you spend one hour observing them and their way of life. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will return to Queen Elizabeth for an afternoon game drive. The afternoon game drive offers prime wildlife viewing as the animals gather around water holes for a drink. You may see elephants, buffalo, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs, several bird species like the gray-crowned crane, kingfishers, and long-crested eagle. On a good day, lions and leopards. You will then retire to the lodge, have dinner, and rest.

After breakfast, you will embark on a journey northwards to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest conservation area in Uganda and home to the most powerful waterfall. The park is also home to several savannah species like elephants, buffalo, waterbucks, bushbucks, several bird species like African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, and many others. Depending on the time of arrival, you may do an evening game drive and retire to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Lunch will be had along the way.

After an early breakfast, you will go on a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, where you can see animals like elephants, buffalo, giraffes, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, among many others. You may also spot several birds like the secretary bird among many others. On a good day, lions and leopards may be seen. After the game drive, you will have lunch and go for a boat ride on the Nile. The boat ride offers the opportunity to spot more wildlife and soak in the beauty of the Murchison waterfalls. Depending on the time, you may have a short evening game drive as well.

Day 8
Transfer to Entebbe via Top of Falls and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Today, you will have an early breakfast and go visit the top of the falls. Murchison Falls is known to be the most powerful waterfall as the River Nile squeezes through a very narrow gorge and cascades 43 meters downwards, causing a powerful thunder. After taking in the sight of the waterfalls, you will then continue to Entebbe with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino walking safari. You will have lunch along the way and proceed to Entebbe. You will be dropped off at the Entebbe International Airport or any other location within Entebbe or Kampala city.
