Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your lodge. You will then embark on a journey to Tarangire National Park, which takes about two and a half hours along well-maintained tarmac roads. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River that flows through it, serving as the sole water source for local wildlife during the dry season, often referred to as the ‘river of warthogs.’ Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, frequently spotted near the river, along with other wildlife such as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. These animals are often accompanied by various predators, including lions and leopards. Additionally, you will encounter the impressive and ancient Baobab trees, some of which are believed to be over a thousand years old. Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic area within the park, and following your game drive, you will proceed to your accommodation in Karatu.

Ngorongoro Crater
After enjoying breakfast, you will travel into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The first sight of the Ngorongoro Crater reveals a realm that seems untouched by time. Enclosed by steep volcanic cliffs, this pristine wilderness boasts expansive savannahs, clusters of acacia trees, and sparkling lakes and swamps. The Crater was formed two to three million years ago when a colossal volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself, covering an area of 260 km². It is celebrated for its geological features and as a natural reserve that supports some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. As you descend into the Crater, you will quickly encounter large groups of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. This location provides an excellent opportunity to observe the endangered black rhino. You will have lunch at a picnic site on the Crater Floor, and after your game drive, you will head back to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 4
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
After enjoying breakfast, you will set off for Lake Manyara National Park, situated 120 kilometers to the west of Arusha. This park, while relatively small, is rich in biodiversity. It is both compact—being one of the narrowest parks in Africa—and grand, with the Great Rift Escarpment looming over the western edge of Lake Manyara. The park derives its name from a shallow, saline lake that spans a considerable area, experiencing seasonal flooding and drying, and providing a habitat for thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and more than 500 other bird species. Within the dense evergreen forests, you might spot baboons and elephants, and be on the lookout for the famous tree-climbing lions that have captured the attention of many across Africa. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Following your game drive, you will say goodbye to your guide and be taken to your preferred destination, whether it be Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.
