After breakfast, your Kilibeyond Adventure Safari guide will collect you from your accommodation. This morning, you will embark on a scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive along well-maintained tarmac roads to Tarangire National Park. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River, which serves as the sole water source for wildlife during the dry season. Renowned for its impressive elephant populations, Tarangire provides excellent opportunities to witness these majestic creatures gathering by the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest, while predators like lions and leopards are often nearby. Additionally, Tarangire boasts the highest variety of bird species found anywhere in the world. As you explore, you'll encounter ancient baobab trees, some of which are thought to be over a thousand years old. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at a designated spot within the park. After enjoying breakfast, you will head towards the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The first sight of the Ngorongoro Crater will transport you to a seemingly forgotten world. With its steep volcanic cliffs, vast savannahs, clusters of acacia woodlands, and sparkling lakes and swamps, it conceals a pristine wilderness. This crater was formed from the explosion and subsequent collapse of a colossal volcano two to three million years ago. Covering an area of 260 km², it is celebrated for its geological features and as a natural reserve that boasts some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. As you descend into the crater, you will encounter large groups of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. This area is also your best chance to see the endangered black rhino. Lunch will be served at a picnic site on the crater floor, and after your game drive, you will return to your accommodation in Karatu.
