Day 3
Gorilla trekking
Gorilla trekking
The morning begins before full light with a quiet breakfast, then the short drive to the park headquarters for your ranger briefing and group assignment. Your ranger team tracks from first light; by the time you enter the forest, they already have a strong sense of where the family is. The approach, when it comes, is slow and deliberate voices drop, pace slows, and you enter the permitted observation zone in a tight group.
The hour with the gorillas is unlike any other hour in wildlife travel. You have already experienced chimpanzees — fast, vocal, and brilliantly alive in the upper canopy. Gorillas are the opposite: slower, quieter, and possessed of a physical presence that takes your breath away in a completely different way. A silverback at rest, a mother nursing her infant, juveniles playing at the family's edge the scene is ordinary and extraordinary simultaneously. Walk the lodge grounds, watch the forest birds from the veranda, or simply sit and let the morning settle.

Day 4
Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park
Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park
The morning begins with breakfast and checkout from Bwindi, then the long drive east toward Lake Mburo National Park — a compact, accessible park that holds species found nowhere else in Uganda. Zebras graze the open grassland in large herds. Impala and topi move between the acacia trees. Eland — the largest antelope in Africa — browse the woodland edges. The lake itself holds substantial hippo populations and the density of leopard here is the highest in Uganda, though leopard sightings require patience.
A two-hour evening game drive in Lake Mburo, followed after lunch at the lakeside, turns the final day into a genuine wildlife experience rather than a transfer.
