The crater was formed when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago, covering an area of 260 km². It's renowned not only for its geological wonders but also as a natural reserve home to some of the densest populations of large mammals in all of Africa.
As you descend into the crater, you'll encounter herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 species of birds. The crater offers one of the best opportunities to see the endangered black rhino.

Tarangire National Park - Arusha
Today, you’ll have another exciting day in the bush. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through the heart of it.
Known as the "river of warthogs," the Tarangire River is the lifeline for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, which can often be seen gathering by the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, all closely followed by various predators, including lions and leopards.
Tarangire is home to more breeding species of birds than any other park in the world! You’ll also be able to admire the massive, ancient baobab trees scattered throughout the park, some of which are believed to be over a thousand years old. A picnic lunch will be provided at a scenic spot inside the park.
After your game drive, you’ll bid farewell to your guide and be transferred to your preferred destination, whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport. We will ensure a smooth drop-off in Arusha.
