Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha around 8:30 AM and head to Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon, continue to Fig Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Nestled at the base of the dramatic 600-meter-high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara stretches for nearly 50 kilometers and is a true scenic treasure—once described by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa.”
The park's compact game-viewing circuit offers a rich variety of wildlife and landscapes in a small area, making it a perfect introduction to Tanzania’s safari experience. From the gate, the road winds through a lush groundwater forest, where large troops of baboons relax by the roadside. Blue monkeys leap through the ancient mahogany trees, shy bushbucks navigate the undergrowth, and forest hornbills echo through the canopy with their loud, distinctive calls.

Get ready to witness one of the most extraordinary natural events on Earth—the Great Migration. Over a million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, move in a never-ending cycle driven by ancient instincts. It begins with a frenzied few weeks of mating and territorial battles, followed by the perilous crossing of crocodile-infested rivers as columns of animals—stretching up to 40 km (25 miles)—push northward. This incredible journey includes a burst of new life, with over 8,000 calves born each day, before the epic 1,000 km (600 mile) migration starts all over again.

Return to Seronera Campsite for breakfast and a bit of relaxation. Later, head out again for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the wild. In the evening, return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
The Serengeti is a land where the eternal drama of predator and prey unfolds daily. Majestic lion prides roam the open plains, feasting on the abundant herbivores. Elusive leopards lurk in the branches of acacia trees along the Seronera River, while cheetahs found in unusually high numbers stalk the southeastern grasslands. Remarkably, all three African jackal species can be seen here, along with spotted hyenas and a variety of rare small predators, from the shy aardwolf to the graceful serval cat.

The original volcano is estimated to have reached heights between 4,500 and 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet), while the crater floor now sits at an elevation of 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level.
