After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park and enjoy a game drive in the park with a picnic lunch in hand.

This is one of the most diverse of Tanzania’s national parks, a compact 325 km² combination of Rift Valley lake, dense woodlands, and steep mountainside. Lake Manyara is a birding paradise with more than 380 recorded species, especially waterfowl and migrants, and its forests are among the best places to spot leopards. Lions can be seen hunting along the grassy shores of the lake. Many visitors combine a trip to Manyara with one of the “Big Three" parks: Serengeti, Tarangire, and Ngorongoro.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit Mto wa Mbu Village for a rich cultural experience with an English-speaking guide who grew up there. Explore local farms, a school, a kindergarten, a local home, the market, and a milling machine.

After breakfast, you’ll embark on morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch in hand in search of the Great Migration.

The Great Migration is arguably the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. It is the largest single movement of animals in search of water, pasture, and breeding grounds. Alongside the vast migrating herds, there may be sightings of cheetah, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, wildebeest, hartebeest, topi, eland, crocodile, and both Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle. With over 500 bird species recorded, the Serengeti is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, home to ostrich, secretary bird, marabou stork, and the kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird.

Guided by the skill and intuition of your guide, the day will be spent seeking out these remarkable creatures. As evening falls, return to camp to relax, enjoy dinner, and sit by the fire under the vast East African night sky.

After an early breakfast, you’ll collect a packed lunch and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a crater tour.

Descend 2,000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater, or more precisely, a caldera. Covering 304 square kilometers, this enclosed ecosphere was formed two to three million years ago by the massive eruption of a volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro and offers some of the finest game viewing opportunities in Tanzania. Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the lake region where flamingos may be seen, and the open savannah where lions hunt.

With around 25,000 large mammals within the caldera, there is the chance to see not only the “Big Five”—elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, and leopard—but also wildebeest, gazelle, reedbuck, bushbuck, hartebeest, hippo, antelope, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelle, and impala, among others, along with more than 500 bird species.
