We drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at the viewpoint, where you will have a chance to take photos with a great view of the valley. It will be a long day of driving, but the afternoon game drive in Serengeti will be a rewarding one. Keep your eyes peeled for the magical Serengeti sunset.
Note: If you want to have a morning game drive in Masai Mara on this day, let us know. From our experience, it is always a rush game drive, and you will arrive in Serengeti very late in the evening.
You will have dinner at the camp. Spend the night in the so-called tented camp, strategically located close to the great game-viewing areas, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action.

Game viewing in Serengeti National Park
Game viewing in Serengeti National Park
Home of endless plains and the great migration.
Stretching across 1.5 million hectares of land, the Serengeti National Park is known for its impressive wildlife population, most notably the Big 5. However, it is perhaps more renowned for being part of the stage on which the annual great migration plays out. Each year, over 2 million wildebeest, a fair number of gazelles, and a small following of zebra seek better grazing areas by migrating south in the Serengeti, then west and north into the Masai Mara before eventually returning.
Highlights:
- Where the great migration puts on part of its great show
- It’s 1.5 million hectares
- Offers some of the best game viewing in the country
- Home to the Big 5 and a mighty big lion population.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater tour
After breakfast at the lodge, we drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending 610 meters to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers.
A flourishing basin in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania’s crater has been part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1973. Aside from boasting a fertile floor and thus an abundance of wildlife (notably the Big 5), the crater is also the only intact caldera left in the world. Fun fact: Many speculate that before Ngorongoro erupted, it would have been higher than the mighty Kilimanjaro.
Highlights:
- The only intact caldera in the world
- Part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Home to the Big 5, as well as an estimated 6,000 wildebeest and a variety of other animals
- Incredible diversity of fauna and flora all year round.
