Arrival in Arusha and Transfer to Tarangire National Park Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be met and transferred to Tarangire National Park. The drive to the park entrance takes approximately 2-3 hours from Arusha. After completing park registration, you will embark on an afternoon game drive. Tarangire is particularly famous for its large population of elephants, which are often seen congregating around the Tarangire River, especially during the dry season. The park's landscape is characterized by ancient baobab trees, acacia woodlands, and extensive swamps. Wildlife commonly sighted includes zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, buffaloes, and various antelopes. Predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are also present. You will spend the night at a lodge or tented camp located inside or near the park.

Game Drive in Tarangire National Park, this day may involve a full day exploring more of Tarangire National Park, focusing on different areas to maximize wildlife sightings. Alternatively, you might have a morning game drive in Tarangire before driving to Lake Manyara National Park (1-2 hours). Then transfer to Lake Manyara, you will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara is a smaller park nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Its diverse habitats, including the soda lake, groundwater forest, and acacia woodland, support a variety of wildlife.

Day 3
Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Transfer to Serengeti National Park
You will drive to the iconic Serengeti National Park. The journey is scenic, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands before descending into the vast plains of the Serengeti. The drive can take 4-6 hours depending on the route and road conditions, often including stops at viewpoints. You will enter the Serengeti through one of its gates, such as the Naabi Hill Gate. Upon entering the park, your first game drive begins en route to your accommodation. The Serengeti is renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing. Even outside the migration periods, the Serengeti offers exceptional year-round wildlife viewing, with large prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and numerous herbivores. Accommodation will be within the Serengeti National Park or in a concession area bordering the park.

Today is dedicated to exploring the vast plains of the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the location of the migration, your guide will take you to the areas with the highest concentration of wildlife. Game drives can be conducted in the early morning, late afternoon, or as a full-day excursion with a packed lunch. The Serengeti's diverse landscapes include open grasslands, kopjes (rocky outcrops), woodlands, and riverine areas, each supporting different species. This day provides ample opportunity to witness predator-prey interactions, observe large herds, and appreciate the sheer scale of the ecosystem. Accommodation remains within or near the Serengeti.

You will enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, perhaps focusing on a different sector of the park. After the game drive and lunch, you will begin the drive back towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. You will arrive at your lodge or camp located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater or in the nearby Karatu area in the late afternoon. This location provides easy access to the Ngorongoro Crater for the following day's tour.

You will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater floor is a unique ecosystem, home to a high density of wildlife within its relatively confined area. It is one of the best places to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) in a single day. The crater floor features grasslands, swamps, and a central soda lake (Lake Magadi). Wildlife commonly seen includes lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, and various bird species. Black rhinos are also present, offering a chance to see this endangered species. You will spend several hours exploring the crater floor. After the game drive and a picnic lunch inside the crater, you will ascend the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure or onward travel to Zanzibar.

Arrival in Zanzibar, Stone Town Tour & Prison Island Upon arrival at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), you will be met and transferred to your accommodation in Stone Town. After checking in, you will embark on a guided walking tour of Stone Town. This historic city is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, bustling markets, mosques, and Arab-style houses with intricately carved doors. The tour covers key historical sites such as the House of Wonders (Beit al-Ajaib), the Old Fort, the Palace Museum, the Darajani Market, and the former Slave Market. In the afternoon, you will take a short boat trip (approximately 20-30 minutes) to Prison Island (Changuu Island). Originally intended as a prison, it was later used as a quarantine station. Today, it is famous for its population of giant Aldabra tortoises, which were a gift from the Seychelles. You can interact with and feed the tortoises, and also enjoy swimming or snorkeling near the island. You will return to Stone Town.

You can choose between a Safari Blue tour or a Dolphin Tour, often combined with a visit to the Nakupenda sandbank. Safari Blue is a full-day trip that typically departs from Fumba village in the southwest. It involves sailing in traditional dhows, snorkeling in coral reefs, visiting different islands or sandbanks, and enjoying a seafood lunch on the beach. Dolphin tours usually depart early in the morning from Kizimkazi on the southern coast, offering the chance to see dolphins in their natural habitat (sightings are not guaranteed). Both options often include a stop at the Nakupenda (meaning "I Love You" in Swahili) sandbank, a beautiful stretch of white sand that appears at low tide, perfect for relaxing, swimming, and sunbathing. You will return to your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Zanzibar is historically known as the "Spice Island" due to its production of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, and other spices. The tour involves visiting a spice farm where you will learn about the cultivation, uses, and medicinal properties of various spices, fruits, and herbs. You will have the opportunity to see, smell, and taste many of these plants. After the Spice Tour, you will visit Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, the only national park in Zanzibar. The park is home to the endangered Zanzibar red colobus monkey, a species endemic to the island. You will take a guided walk through the forest to observe these playful monkeys. The park also contains a mangrove boardwalk, offering insight into the coastal ecosystem. You will return to your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Depending on your flight schedule, you will have some free time in the morning for leisure, perhaps souvenir shopping in Stone Town or relaxing at your hotel. Later, you will be transferred to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your departure, concluding your 10-day Tanzania safari and Zanzibar tour package.
