Departure from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

Early morning departure from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam. Your safari vehicle and guide will pick you up. The journey to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) is primarily by road and takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Arrive at the designated public or special campsite within Nyerere National Park.
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: While the camp is being set up, you will likely have a packed lunch or a simple meal prepared by the crew at the campsite. Settle into your tents and take a brief rest after the journey.
2:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Embark on your first activity in the park. Exploring the diverse landscapes and searching for wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and various antelope species.
7:00 PM onwards: Relax at the campsite. Your safari cook will prepare dinner over an open fire or on a portable stove. Enjoy your meal under the stars, followed by time around a campfire.

Morning safari and depature

6:00 AM: Wake up early to the sounds of the bush. A light breakfast (tea/coffee and biscuits) is usually available.
6:30 AM - 9:30 AM: Head out for an early morning game drive. This time of day is often the most active for many animals, including predators, as they are more comfortable in the cooler temperatures. The soft morning light is also excellent for photography.
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: Return to the campsite for a full breakfast prepared by your cook.
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Depending on your departure time and interests, you might have time for a final short activity, such as a brief walking safari near the campsite (if permitted and arranged) or a final short game drive on the way out of the park.
12:30 PM: Begin the journey back to Dar es Salaam. A packed lunch may be provided to eat en route.
Arrive back in Dar es Salaam, concluding your 2-day camping safari adventure in Nyerere National Park.
