Transfer to Mikumi & Afternoon Game Drive

Your safari adventure begins in the morning after breakfast. You will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam by your professional driver-guide and depart for Mikumi National Park, a journey of approximately 5–6 hours through Tanzania’s scenic countryside.

Upon arrival at Mikumi, you will check in and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch at your selected camp or lodge. After a short rest, embark on your first afternoon game drive in the park. Mikumi is renowned for its rich diversity of wildlife, including elephants, lions, wild dogs, zebras, hyenas, buffalos, wildebeest, elands, hartebeests, and even crocodiles and monitor lizards. The park is also a birdwatcher’s haven, with over 300 recorded species ranging from colorful bee-eaters to majestic eagles.

As the sun sets, you’ll return to your camp or lodge for a relaxing dinner and your overnight stay, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the African wilderness.

Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, exploring its diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. The park’s landscapes include open grasslands, miombo woodlands, and seasonal swamps, providing excellent habitats for a wide variety of species.

Your drive will cover key wildlife areas, including the well-known Mkata and Chamgore waterholes, where animals frequently gather to drink and cool off. These pools are home not only to wildlife such as monitor lizards and the elusive African python, but also to rich birdlife including the striking saddle-billed stork, hammerkop, and the vibrant malachite kingfisher.

Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the bush. The game drive continues into the afternoon, offering more opportunities to encounter Mikumi’s iconic animals and bird species.

Return to your lodge or camp in the early evening for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Morning Game Drive & Return to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro

Begin your final day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge, followed by a short game drive en route as you exit Mikumi National Park. This early drive offers a last chance to spot wildlife in the soft morning light, when many animals are most active.

You will then continue your journey back to Dar es Salaam, with a stopover in Morogoro Town for a relaxing lunch break. Enjoy the scenic drive through the Uluguru Mountains and rural Tanzanian landscapes along the way.

Arrival in Dar es Salaam is expected in the early afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel or preferred location, marking the end of your unforgettable Mikumi safari adventure.
