Day 2
Southern Serengeti National Park
Southern Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, depart from Arusha and head toward the southern Serengeti, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. On this day, you will see one of nature's greatest spectacles—the wildebeest migration. Over two million animals, including wildebeest, zebras, elands, and gazelles, migrate in a clockwise route from the south to the central and northern Serengeti, eventually reaching the Masai Mara in Kenya.
A highlight of the Southern Serengeti National Park is the chance to spot all six wild cat species—leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, African wildcat and serval. In addition to the migration, you may encounter iconic African wildlife such as giraffes, elephants, elands, buffalo and hippos.
Two notable lakes in the region are Lake Masek, home to pods of hippos, and Lake Ndutu, a paradise for waterbirds. Here, you can enjoy birdwatching opportunities with sightings of flamingos, stilts, ducks, herons, teals and many more aquatic species.

Southern Serengeti National Park
Southern Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, leave your camp for a full-day game drive across the Ndutu Plains, where millions of wildebeest and zebras gather during the migration season. The plains are also a haven for birds of prey, such as vultures, eagles, and kites, which are often seen perched on the tops of acacia trees. Large herds of elephants and giraffes roam freely around Lake Masek, while cheetahs can be spotted chasing prey across the open plains. From December to March, the Ndutu area becomes a birthing ground for wildebeest, with as many as 8,000 calves born each day during peak calving season.
